Focus and Scope of the Journal

The Journal of Conflict Management and Sustainable Development publishes articles relevant to the following themes:

International and National Conflict; Conflict management; Conflict resolution; Dispute Settlement; Approaches to Conflict Management; Alternative Dispute Resolution; Traditional Dispute Resolution Mechanisms; Environmental Conflicts;  Gender; Social Reform and Development; Climate Change; Energy; Food Security; Human Rights; Waste Management; Agriculture; Biodiversity; Water; Oceans and Fisheries; African Development; the Environment and Sustainable Development in general.

Contributions to the above and related aspects or disciplines of the law from any part of the world are thus welcome.

Plagiarism Warning

As part of the submission process the author is required to warrant that they are submitting their original work, that they own the rights in the work, that they are submitting the work for first publication in the Journal and that it is not being considered for publication elsewhere and has not already been published elsewhere, and that you have obtained and can supply all necessary permissions for the reproduction of any copyright works not owned by you. Papers should also be submitted for consideration only when consent is given by all contributing authors.

Authors must provide contact details and academic affiliations for all co-authors via the submission system.

The Journal will check all submissions for plagiarism, excessive referencing which may be identical or where copying is evident. Failing to acknowledge work by other scholars, quoting verbatim without referencing and excessive referencing is academic fraud.

All manuscripts that are found to commit plagiarism any other type of academic fraud will be returned to the author for revision.

Submission Guidelines

Conformity to Guidelines

Only manuscripts of good quality that meet the aims and scope of the Journal will be reviewed. Please note that manuscripts not conforming to the Journal’s submission guidelines will be returned with recommendations from the Reviewers.

Current issues

All submissions should be based on contemporary legal issues, and must be up to date with developments in the area of research and current affairs.

Language

All articles must be written in British English.

Format

All electronic submissions must be in the Microsoft Word format only (.doc/ .docx).

Word Limit

Articles should be approximately 5,000 words in length. The article should also begin with a clear and concise abstract of about 200 words or less.

Citation

All submissions must use citation methods that employ pin point referencing of sources, preferably the OSCOLA Citation style.

Originality

All submissions must be the original work of the author.

Fees

There are no fees payable to submit or publish in this journal.

Accompanying Documents

All submissions shall be accompanied by: (i) a covering letter with the names(s) of the author, title of the manuscript and the author’s contact information; (ii) an undertaking that the work submitted is genuine, that the author is the original owner of the work and the same has not been published anywhere else before; and (iii) and abstract of not more than 200 words describing the submitted manuscript.

Previously published works

Previously published material may be considered for publication in this Journal in particular circumstances, especially papers on emerging issues in the covered thematic areas. They must be the original work of the author and submission from the previous publisher must be sought, where required.

Author’s Identity

No biographical information of the author should be included in the manuscript as this information will be indicated in the covering letter.

Publishing Policy

The Journal of Conflict Management and Sustainable Development Editorial Team is committed to maintaining the highest standards of the published work and as such, submitted articles will be checked for plagiarism using plagiarism-checking software.  Authors of articles submitted for review may be asked by the editor to provide further sources or acknowledgements in case of insufficient acknowledgement of cited or used sources. This includes reproducing any illustrations, tables or figures previously published elsewhere.

Previously published material may be considered for publication in this Journal in particular circumstances, especially papers on emerging issues in the covered thematic areas. Where a manuscript has already been published or submitted elsewhere for consideration, permission must first be sought from the previous publisher, if so required by them, and the author must indicate where the work was first published.

The Journal of Conflict Management and Sustainable Development prefers the OSCOLA reference style and the authors are advised to ensure that their manuscript conforms to this reference style.

The Editor will strive to keep you informed as to your article’s progress throughout the production process.

The Journal of Conflict Management and Sustainable Development provides authors with online access to the final draft of their article.

Editorial Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of  CMSD  are received by the Managing Editor, who examines all text files. If the manuscript does not meet the technical requirements of the journal, authors are sent detailed instructions about the changes required in the manuscript and asked to resubmit their articles to the Managing Editor after making required changes.

The manuscript will then be assigned to a member of the Editorial Board, who reviews the document and returns it with their comments. The editorial process gives a member of the Editorial Board the authority to reject any manuscript if it does not meet publishing standards or is out of scope of the journal. Based on the comments of the Editor, the manuscript is sent for external, double-blind review.

Upon taking into account all the comments, the Managing Editor will either accept the manuscript, recommend revision or reject the article all together. The author is promptly informed of this decision.

An accepted manuscript may be edited for grammar, punctuation and style. The edited version of the manuscript will then be sent to the corresponding author for approval.
